“All anthropologists cultivate being marginal to some extent, and may already incline in that direction,” says Stephen Feuchtwang.

In this interview, Feuchtwang speaks of his life and his work in Taiwan and China. He was born in Berlin in 1937 but his family fled less than a year later during the Anschluß. Six months earlier, Feuchtwang’s Austrian father had been released from the gaol with immunity.
